RE-BIRTH SEPT 2006
 
During the mid section of yet another marathon drinking session, with good friends and fellow scooterists, conversation centered on the changing face of scootering, and the direction of our local club. Huge rifts appearing regarding what we wanted from the scene and scootering in general. Most of us had similar opinions, ie, too much politics, backstabbing, finger pointing. We needed to move on and get back to basics, riding scooters, getting pissed and avin a larf. Present at this conversation were Neil Archer and Tony Hill, founder members of THE MAD CUCUMBERS WITH EYES S.C. We spoke to Neil and Tony and it was explained to us that the CUCUMBERS were originally formed because of the same problems, in the 80'S.
Permission was sought to resurrect the CUCUMBERS. Original patches  from 1987 were kindly donated to the new club for the new cause, the seeds were planted. On return from the rally a few mates met at Deano's pad and the CUCUMBERS were officially reborn. Our policies and agendas were outlined. Basically we haven't got any. No politics, no leaders, just a scooter and the intention to ride. With new patches, polo shirts, web site and our core members; Paul Bowles, Deano Newland, Paul Parks, Gwilym Smith, Del Thomson, Phill Hazell, Neil Archer, Liam Fell, Justin Taylor, Bill Williams, a new chapter had begun.

With our new lease of life and in our second year, ( up yours to those who said we wouldn't last 5 mins), we feel it's time to update you all. we have supported other clubs events and attended many rallies home and abroad, and made new friends along the way, with our piss taking sense of humour. Should we have upset you or offended anyone the following statement can apply; hey ho, get a life, we're just avin a larf.
In all seriousness we try to be an approachable friendly bunch of geezers. We have with this attitude attracted more members, making 17 in total, with almost a third of the membership being original CUCUMBERS, who have bought scooters and re-joined the scene on the strength of the MAD CUCUMBERS WITH EYES rebirth.
